Officially reissued by Isengard Distribution on 180 gram black vinyl with a heavy 3mm jacket and 12" insert. Produced with close attention to the original Eternal Devils layout, making this the most faithful vinyl edition of the album to date. Originally released in 1994, Carpathian Wolves is (technically) Graveland's debut full-length album and one of the defining recordings of the early Polish black metal scene. Centered on themes of pagan resistance to modernity, wolf-like mindset, and ancient warfare, the album captures the uncompromising spirit that established Graveland as one of the most influential bands to emerge from the Polish pagan vastlands. The record balances raw black metal with slower, atmospheric passages driven by Darken's distinctive keyboard work. Tracks such as "Barbarism Returns," "In the Northern Carpathians," and "Witches' Holocaust" have become classics of Graveland's early catalog, showcasing the band's ability to combine primitive aggression with memorable melodies and dark atmosphere. While the production remains raw and unpolished, the strength of the songwriting more than compensates. Capricornus' sloppy and human drumming, Darken's unmistakable drunken vocals and keyboards, and the band's cold, Polish riffing create a sound that is distinct to Graveland and the Temple of Fullmoon associates. The album's ambient passages and iconic intro further reinforce the bleak atmosphere that would become a hallmark of Graveland's early work. Often regarded as one of the strongest releases from Graveland's classic era, Carpathian Wolves remains essential listening for fans of raw pagan black metal.
